Go USA.

Before story time at the library this morning {we're making the rounds at area libraries!} we dropped off daddy to watch the game.
And then the result wasn't the best but we still had a good day in our red, white, and blue!

International.

Today the weather warmed up at bit, back to normal supposedly, and we enjoyed some underwhelming Saturday activities.
Mike had a soccer game; Guinness watched intently.
Mike's school had an international evening; the various cultural clubs had a cook-off and it was DELICIOUS. I was and remain quite full but very happy.
Good weekend to you!

Roll AWAY Tide.

Mikey's playing soccer right now and I'm enjoying some empty time and watching the Arkansas game. We're playing Alabama and our quarterback is out for the game so things aren't looking great for us but that's ok...WOOOOOOOOO Pig Soooooooie anyway =)

Are you enjoying the weekend? It's warm but very pleasant here...I love September!

Of tie-dyeing,l and other musings.

"D" is for "done"! Summer school ended yesterday with some psychedelic swirls of color. The kids were cute and we had our little art show. I kind of lazed around all day and didn't clean or organize or anything, nor did I run, which was supposed to happen. I chalk this all up as "OK" though considering all that we did this week. I deposited our friends at the airport after class and we said our goodbyes. M and I will surely be planning a visit to their neck of the woods soon.

I met M downtown at his job and we got a bite at Santé Grill (good "healthy" fries) and then we ended up walking around Music in the Park to check out the tunes and the plethora of humanity that shows up. It was very good people watching, if a bit breezy and cool for the first day of July (my 2nd favorite month). We got frozen yogurt and headed home for some CSI and bed, which was lovely.

This morning M watched Brazil lose and I slept and then dropped him off at work. The dog seems pretty depressed right now, maybe about all of the confusion but more likely because I'm currently the only one in the house with him. I'll be working on all that cleaning, etc., today and then we're going to a co worker's happy hour tonight at her parents' house. I'm pretty excited since we'll be able to ride our bikes; this will be my third trip, the second being last Monday when I got my flat (which was thankfully at school) and walked to the apartment and then rode it to memaw's to get M's car.

Here are some pics from yesterday's art show and tie-dyeing about which I had more excitement than any of the students and then some shots of our new abode, backyard style; there was a very pretty rust colored dragon fly hanging out all day! Also, check out this link if you want to read about something grossly (emphasis on "grossly") fascinating =) Happy Friday all!

Some of my students' artwork, about which I am quite proud. The first two are collages to represent a political issue that they feel strongly about (the environment and gay rights, respectively) ad the last is a painting to represent their cultural heritage...awesome job guys!

Raspberry Beret or Billie Jean?

Who would you choose? As you can see by our pins, we're Michael all the way!! Last night we went to a party in the big city that was at a club and the djs played only Michael Jackson and Prince songs. Check out the event here !Everyone got a pin according to who they favor and it was a great time all around. It always astounds me how much more with it everyone in the city seems, even if they're totally not. Where we live is actually a bigger city, geographically and population-wise, but it feels a lot different. Anyway, lots of fun was had and we headed home at around 1 am, thought the party was slated to continue until the un-godly hour of 4 am.

Germany is currently slaughtering Australia, or the "soccer-roos" as they're called (how cute is that?!) and I'm trying to motivate myself for a long run. My legs have felt downright life-less the past few days and I suppose dancing the night away didn't help, but it was worth it. Also, before the dj showdown we were invited to dinner at M's coworker's mother's place in the city and her whole family was sooo sweet and welcoming to us! We had a yummy dinner, good company and lots of fun just hanging out before hand. It was quite warm in the whole area yesterday, even in the normally chilly city, which was OK by me, considering my love of all climates warm and sultry.

Anyway, enough of this randomness; enjoy the beautiful weekend as we slog through our long run but enjoy a couple of fun parties afterwards!

Minimal free time

Well, as the title implies, I do have minimal free time, but since I am in the middle of some, I've been compelled to begin a blog. I really don't have much interesting to say but I would like to have a way to chronicle my life and since technology is more and more perniciously pervasive in all that I do, perhaps this is the best venue.

A bit about me...I'm a twenty-something California girl who loves her life. I've got a fabulous and quirky family who keeps me going , a goofy looking bundle of love on four legs (el perrito), a tiring but great job teaching and a wonderful boyfriend (el novio) who very kindly loves and lives with me.

el novio (M) and I have been living together for almost a year and we've been together for over 4. It's been a great adventure together and I look forward to posting about our times together.

We're currently enjoying a lazy Saturday morning-turned-afternoon watching the US play England in South Africa (they're there, we're here, unfortunately). Who are you betting on taking the cake (cake=cup...cupcake?!)? M's leaning towards Brazil but I honestly have no clue so I'll go for Argentina since Colombia's not playing and I don't want to choose what M's thinking =)

We had some guests this week and gave them the pillow top of our mattress (which is just like a thinner mattress) to sleep on in our family room. The guests left two days ago but we're (all three of us) still enjoying our new "floor-bed". We have a run planned for later (we're each training for a marthon this fall, though a different one each; more on that later) and then some fun in the big city tonight.

Thanks for reading this and I look forward to much "bloggy" fun!
