I had a doctor's appointment this afternoon {the doctor on a Friday afternoon...boo} so Michael and baby boo hung out in the waiting room.

She was very happy, needless to say.

How do you spell relief?

V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N. 

For reasons unbeknownst-to but ever so appreciated by me, our school gives us an entire week off for Thanksgiving. It's so crazy how time flies this time of year anyway but this whole week just seems to add to it. We have two weeks of classes when we return, then a week of mid-terms and then it's hasta luego until 2015. 

For now, I'm celebrating the weekend with this hound.

And looking forward to getting a driver's license, cooking, eating, resting, and rejuvenating our home in the next week.

Hack hack, sniff sniff.

So babies have colds forever? Our poor thing is still kicking something. Or kicking something new. It's definitely a good thing we stayed in town this weekend.

Tomorrow's another day of laying low and recuperating. And staying warm, old man winter came back to town and is fixing to stay for a few days.

Yippee.

Sticking around.

In an effort to not infect others and get better ourselves we are not heading out of town for a little weekend trip as planned, which is definitely for the better.

Oooooh a three-dayer; what luck! After last week/weekend's extravaganza this is much needed and anticipated. 

We've got lots of rest {yippee!}, laundry {boo}. and grading {double boo} on the agenda and we're so so happy.

Long day.

I had to work longer than normal today so the Pete's Pizza that's on its way and the prospect of no alarm clock until Monday morning are so intoxicating right now...welcome, weekend!!!

WE MADE IT!

It's the freaking weekend baby I'm about to have me some fun!

Or at least some sleep. With a baby in the house that might not be a lot of sleep but at least there isn't an alarm that I'm setting - yippee skippee for that!

Leisurely caffeine.

Baby, grandma, and I spent the morning at a coffee shop in DC. It was leisurely, delicious {black forest ham and cheddar croissant for the win}, and relaxing; exactly what I look for in a weekend when I'm back at work {yes, a bit early for it, but it's glorious to have summers to look forward to}.

Then we had a nice afternoon visiting, trying rice cereal for the first time, and ordering pizza for dinner {PETE'S!!}.

Buh-gells.

Though we have a bunch of our stuff laying around waiting to be put away, today was nice and leisurely. We started out the day with bagels and Mikey's brother and his girlfriend and ended it with leftovers from last night for dinner.

Not a bad way to end the weekend! Speaking of, the next one we will be in Wisconsin for a wedding of college friends; I'm so excited for baby to meet our pals though sadly not all of them will be there...soon enough!

Hello Saturday.

We're attempting to keep it low-key today. Moving is still very much occurring, slowly and painfully I might add, but for baby's sake we're staying out of the car today.

Artsy fartsy.

Today we enjoyed a slow morning at home, some more visiting family, a walk with my grandmother's dog, a quick dip in the pool {too cold! #bayareaproblems}, and walking around and arts/music festival downtown.

It was a good day and we're excited for the weekend ahead; meeting more people and some rising temperatures.

Some apartment hunting, a graduation party for a pal, welcoming back grandma and zaide, pizza making, baby crying...all in a good Saturday.

Big weekend.

We did quite a lot this weekend...for our new normal.

The baby experienced her first soccer game yesterday; we walked two laps around the track while dad played before we went home ahead of him. Our second half absence must've distressed him quite a bit because the poor guy did something unfortunate to his hamstring and thus couldn't run the Cherry Blossom ten-miler this morning. Not could I, for other less-athletic reasons.

Last night we had a few friends over for pizza and then some more friends over for bagels this morning.

It was definitely the most I'd done {& most normal experiences I'd had} in a long time. And suffice it to say, our child had the busiest weekend of her life.

Now we're all pooped and ready for a good solid two to four hours of sleep.

Last Saturday?

We spent what could be our last Saturday sans bébé being suburban and uninteresting, even though we live in a very vibrant city. And I think that pace was just right for us.

The evening was capped off with The Social Network on TV. So what if we're only four years behind the times, it's still a good movie!

Dasvidaniya Sochi.

We're watching the closing ceremonies {& looking forward to the next big sporting events: March Madness and then the World Cup} and mentally gearing up for the week ahead...did you have a nice weekend Reader? 

Today continued yesterday's theme of being low-key and I'm grateful for it considering there's a mountain of work ahead for me to get done since these are my last days at work before going on leave.

Calm.

Next weekend is posed to be a busy one and then the rest of November and December also fall into that category so the past two days Michael and I enjoyed major down time (a.k.a. we are boring and we are OK with that).

Hopefully it leaves us recharged for the work/school week...but do you ever feel like no matter how rested you are on the weekend that the week ahead is still taxing?

Well, rested or not, let's hope this is a good week ahead for all!

A night away.

We headed down to the Shenandoah Valley for a Saturday-to-Sunday getaway and had a really nice time.

Mountain Man Mike.

The leaves were beautiful in the area though in the park it seems as though there had been a bunch of wind recently because it looked {& felt} quite wintery.

Yesterday we attempted a hike that turned out to be several miles straight downhill to just get to the trail head.

After five minutes my calves were shaking because of the steepness and the fact that leaves were covering the trail so we had to step careful to not slip on the rocks hidden under the leaf cover. And then we gave up about a mile and a half in.

Ominous skies that never did anything.

Because it was downhill on the way out, we hiked straight uphill to get back to the car. But it was all so pretty and we were with good company the whole time so it was a good thing.

After a night in the lodge's taproom {& some over-indulgent dinner/dessert} we enjoyed our little cabin and woke up to a beautiful view.

Breakfast and a hike were on the morning agenda and then we drove home; plus we got an extra hour!

The hikes we did today were to several lookout points; the breeze was brisk and it was very beautiful.

It was a really nice weekend and staying in the lodge rather than camping made the whole trip a bit more relaxing/easier than camping, strenuous hiking included!

Long week?

Guinness is pooped out tonight.

Perhaps it's a reflection of his roommates but I don't really believe he's that tired considering he lays around all day.

But laying around all weekend? At least we get to do that!!

How'd it get to be here already?

It started as a short week but, still, I always think that it was just Monday and Friday is always a happy surprise.

As are cool temperatures and big trees.
