No voice.

Apart from a bit of a stomach thing gracing our home this week, I've snagged myself a sinus-infection/bronchitis duo that has taken my dulcet tones and mangled them beyond recognition. It's painful, actually, to cough and squeak out words. Baby was better so we took her to daycare today and I proceeded to sleep most of the day while thinking I was hearing her cry in the background. Thus is a curse of parenthood, amongst many I'm sure.

Hopefully I'll be able to get out some sound tomorrow because there's teaching that needs to be done.
A pretty sky can help things along.
And hopefully that little one gets fully better because there's is nothing sadder or more worrisome than a sick baby.

Things to do when ill.

I'm pretty lucky {in many ways!} and I don't get so sick very often. It's usually just a little sinus situation or maybe a small cold but it had been quite a while since I've been decommissioned like this.
It's a good thing, then, that I'm very fortunate enough to be visiting my lovely in-laws in Arizona and to have them taking care of me.
My mother-in-law was generous enough to take me to Wal-Mart to pick up a prescription. While we were there I saw a man wearing a bathrobe over his clothes and he was not being facetious.
I've been enjoying A LOT of couch time, tea, and broth. There's also some football and card gaming involved.
I think my favorite thing to do when sick is to nurse a mocktail of gatorade and sparkling water with an Oriental flavor ramen on the side but for some reason I've recently switched over to cold apple juice and we made a happy stop at Trader Joe's after our Wal-Mart experience to get me some of this magic juice. I also picked up some less-sodium-rich Annie Chuns noodle bowls to replace the Top Ramen.
What's your favorite feel-better technique? Have you been experiencing some winter woes yourself? If so, feel better {that's YOU Becs!}!!!

Ouch.

Still coughing and aching over here.
Let's rally for New Year's, ok?
And let's look at something pleasant to make us feel better.
Just look at that precious creature!!! He's being well taken care of by friends in DC and I miss him something FIERCE.
That's better.
Good weekend to you!

Oh what a relief it is?

I am SO ready for this little coughing adventure to be over with.
Until tomorrow, over and out.

Uggghhhhhggghhh...

That sinus stuff from earlier this week morphed into a full blown Bad Cold. So I'm nursing myself with a patented recipe that includes lots of red Gatorade mixed with club soda, Oriental flavored ramen, chamomile hot toddies with lemon and honey and many, many DVR'd episodes of A Baby Story.
What's your regimen when under the weather?
It's a blessing, though, that today has been the most horrendous of it all and it's Saturday so I don't need to call in {or guiltily drag myself to work because of not wanting to come up with the dreaded substitute plans}. However, it's GORGEOUS outside and I would ever-so-much love to be hiking somewhere.
Anyway, I hope that you're out and about and enjoying a lovely weekend!

Infected.

Blegh. As of Sunday morning I have an ear infection. Who even gets these except people under seven years of age? I woke up with a horrendous feeling and decided to call in when it didn't get better. For another week or so it's amoxicillin's job to heal me.

Wish us luck!

Cold.

It's not that cold outside, comparatively {Becs, that's you!}; I'm referring to the cold I got somewhere along the past 24 hours...blah! My patented cocktail from Monday has kept me going all day as well as the oriental flavor ramen {disgusting, I admit, but not when I'm not feeling well}. In case you don't want to click on that above link, my drink of choice when I'm ailing is red Gatorade and ginger ale, sometimes with extra seltzer water to make it even more sparkly.
Good weekend to you all and stay healthy out there!

Calamitous.

Well last Monday and this Monday have not set a good record for the most loathed day of the week {though I admit that Sunday is a CLOSE second here in these parts} {disclaimer: it's not that I don't like work, I do, very much so, but I just like sleeping until I no longer want to and not when my trusty little alarm tells me too...I was a dreadfully independent child in case you can't tell}. Refer to this post to see what I did last week on this day and read the following to find out what I'm doing today:
I'm feeling kind of very un-well and am in bed at home. I left work school today after teaching two classes; I almost called Mike to come get me, much like someone in the elementary school, but fretted too much about leaving a car at work {unlike someone in elementary school}. I was feeling dizzy and gross-tummied and it wasn't getting better so I threw in the towel. It must be some hang-up from skeptical family members growing up but I always feel as though I'm not even telling the truth when I say that I'm ill and cannot do something because of it. We had the vomit or blood rule going on in our house: if there wasn't one or the other {or, on super gnarly occasions, BOTH!} then school was most definitely going to happen. It's still really hard for me to justify not doing something due to illness but nausea is my one no-brainer so here at home I am.
Anyway, at the risk of giving y'all too much information, I've shared what I've shared and am now going to make my fail-safe red Gatorade/ginger ale cocktail and forgo Marvelous Monday just because I've already written enough.
